The Blitz by Brenton Gibbons

The heavens roared above the city,

I huddled in the corner flooded with fear.

Those who flew over the channel had no pity,

Not even enough to shed a tear.

The thundering sound filled the air,

One by one they fell.

Which kept me crouched in despair,

As I heard Big Ben’s bell.

The skies flashed a brilliant orange-red,

As the city sirens blared.

I realized I couldn’t get past my bed,

Maybe I will not be spared.

The room violently shook,

As the window above my head shattered.

I quickly crawled to another nook,

And noticed that my drapes were tattered.

I felt the heat from the fire outside,

Then the smoke poured in like an attack.

I finally realized I’m trapped inside,

This time the room went black.
